Comac’s goals have always been clear and shared. One of them is to meet the highest standards in order to act sustainably and offer superior value to collaborators and customers. For this reason, the company has embarked on a certification path that precedes a significant commitment to social issues and sustainable development. This is why Comac focuses on the value of certifications to transmit it also in the professional cleaning field.
Achieving two certifications: ISO 14067 and SA 8000
Italian companies are the most ethical in the world. This is also due to the SA 8000 certification, which sees Italy at the top in terms of number of certifications. A leadership that demonstrates how high the attention of Italian companies is towards the issues of protecting the rights of people and the environment. For this reason, Comac sees the certification process as an investment in the organization, an improvement of its activities to give value to the company, and therefore also to professional cleaning. In a context of continuous improvement, and to demonstrate to its stakeholders that it is a reliable partner, Comac has recently completed the voluntary process to get two important certifications: ISO 14067 and SA 8000.
ISO 14067:2018 – Carbon footprint of products
The awareness of the responsibility towards climate change has led Comac to adopt the international standard ISO14067 which defines the requirements for the quantification of carbon footprint of products, also known as CFP. This is a voluntary process the company embarked on in 2019, and which in October 2020 had a positive result as Comac achieved the certification. If you want to understand what CFP is and why it is important to measure it, we suggest you read the post where we explain it in detail.
Why Comac has chosen to measure the carbon footprint of its floor scrubbers
Measuring the Carbon Footprint of the latest generation floor scrubbers, and therefore their impact in terms of CO2 emissions, allows Comac to have real and third-party verified data on performance with respect to climate change. The methodology is based on LCA (Life Cycle Assessment). Therefore, GHG emission (greenhouse gas) is measured by analyzing the entire life cycle of the product. In this way, it is possible for Comac to understand the most critical phases in terms of greenhouse gas emissions, and intervene to try to reduce them to a minimum.
SA 8000:2014 – Social Accountability
The SA8000 certification (technically known as Social Accountability) represents an international standard drawn up by the CEPAA (Council of Economical Priorities Accreditation Agency) which aims to evaluate aspects of corporate management regarding Corporate Social Responsibility. Specifically, the companies that decide to voluntarily adhere to this certification undertake to respect human rights, labour rights, protection against child exploitation and to give guarantees of safety and health in the workplace. In 2021 Comac chose to voluntarily undertake the SA 8000 certification process, and obtaining it made the values that have always accompanied the company even more strong.
Why Comac has chosen to invest in achieving the SA 8000 certification
By achieving the SA 8000 certification, Comac wants to demonstrate, both nationally and internationally, the ethics of its production cycle that is mainly based on strengthening the rights of the people involved in it. In this way, customers can also support and share the ethical choices made by the company. This is because the certification touches on issues that not only involve internal company policies, but also extends to the supply chain. Comac’s social commitment therefore aims to create value both inside and outside the company, thus seeking to transmit this value to the professional cleaning sector as well.
The SA 8000 certification, together with the other certifications achieved by Comac, help ensure that all processes meet the most up-to-date international standards. Nevertheless, from the point of view of the ethical aspects of doing business, it is what makes the company more proud. In fact, most of the certifications are related to technical or managerial skills, while the SA 8000 required an effort and a general involvement of the whole company, thus demonstrating the ethical identity of Comac itself.
Comac focuses more and more on the value of certifications
For Comac, certifications are a key tool in creating value, both inside and outside the company. ISO 14067 and SA8000 are the certifications that allow you to really play the game of sustainability, ethics and corporate social responsibility. They are internationally recognized certifications and guaranteed by an independent third party, as they are issued by accredited bodies, such as Bureau Veritas in the case of Comac. All this with a view to maximum transparency, an aspect that is more and more requested by consumers. In fact, according to a recent Eurisko survey for the Sodalitas Foundation, 76% of Italians believe it is important for the company to guarantee the sustainability of their supply chain. This is an implicit aspect of the SA 8000 certification as it provides for an evaluation of suppliers on the basis of sustainability and ethical criteria.
Consumers are increasingly aware: they use certifications to evaluate and therefore give added value to the products they buy. This is the reason why Comac has chosen to focus on the value of certifications investing energy, time and resources. An asset that it then undertakes to transmit to the whole professional cleaning sector.
