Nestled in the hills of Tregnago, just a few kilometers from Verona, lies a new chapter in our commitment to sustainability: the Comac Biodiversity Oasis. This project, created in collaboration with 3Bee, a leading nature tech company specialized in the development of technologies for biodiversity protection, represents a concrete step towards a greener future. We celebrate our fiftieth anniversary by giving Comac and nature a place where biodiversity can ben safeguarded and continue to thrive.
The Comac Oasis: a concrete commitment to local biodiversity
Comac’s Oasis is much more than a simple environmental project; it is a place designed to monitor, protect and regenerate local biodiversity. The first phase of the project involved planting one hundred nectar-producing plants, carefully selected for their crucial role in supporting the life of pollinators. These trees do not only provide nectar but also help improve air quality and create a healthier and lusher environment for local flora and fauna. During the second phase, the project expanded further with the installation of two technological biomonitoring beehives equipped with 3Bee Hive-Tech technology. These smart hives host around 600,000 bees and allow for real-time monitoring of their health and the surrounding environmental parameters. This advanced technology enables the collection of crucial data to better understand the health of pollinators and the ecosystem.
The fundamental role of bees in the ecosystem
Bees are often considered as the sentinels of biodiversity. Their pollination activity is essential for the growth of many plants and, consequently, for the survival of numerous ecosystems. It is estimated that 75% of the world’s cultivations depend on pollinators such as bees, butterflies, ladybugs, beetles and others. With the Comac Biodiversity Oasis, we aim to contribute to the protection of these creatures by promoting an environment where they can thrive and ensure the continuity of the natural cycle that sustains life.
The Biodiversity Oasis: a key milestone in our sustainability journey
The Comac Biodiversity Oasis was created with a specific goal: protect the local biodiversity and support the life of pollinating insects, which are essential for the balance of the ecosystem. It is a key milestone in our wider journey towards sustainability, that goes far beyond technological innovation. At Comac, we have always tried to integrate sustainability into every stage of our business process, from machine design to resource management. One example of this commitment is our water recycling technologies: ReWater and Non Stop Cleaning. These systems, installed on Comac floor scrubbers, significantly reduce water consumption during cleaning operations, demonstrating that high performance can be achieved with a reduced environmental impact.
Another example of our commitment is the adoption of the ISO 14067 standard for calculating the Carbon Footprint of our latest generation floor scrubbers and sweepers. This international standard allows us to measure the environmental impact of our products throughout their life cycle. This approach enables us to identify areas for improvement to reduce the CO2 emissions associated with our products.

For years, Comac’s sustainability journey has included a strong commitment and responsibility towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out in the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda. Thanks to our collaboration with 3Bee and the use of their advanced technologies, the Comac Biodiversity Oasis contributes to the achievement of seven SDGs:
- SDG 2 – Zero Hunger: by protecting pollinators, essential for sustainable agriculture, we support food security.
- SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation: we promote responsible water resource management, improving the health of ecosystems.
- SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth: 3Bee involves local partners, ensuring them ethical remuneration to promote a sustainable economy based on nature conservation and the use of IoT technology in biodiversity protection.
- SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities: the Oasis helps raise environmental awareness among people and promotes the creation of regenerative green spaces, improving the quality of life in surrounding areas.
- SDG 13 – Climate Action: by planting trees, we help reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere.
- SDG 15 – Life on Land: 3Bee is building the largest ecological corridor for pollinators, with over 100 hectares regenerated and more than 1.5 billion bees monitored.
- SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: 3Bee collaborates with a network of partners to promote sustainability, creating synergies that amplify the impact of biodiversity projects and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
